Software Installation

Note: This procedure is for basics in software installations. Please refer to this document if you are uncertain of how to obtain software information 



  1. Check for software in ITRepository

    1. Go to Run and type in \\itrepository\masters

    2. If software is not found (software is typically found in folders named after software manufacturer, e.g. for Office look in Microsoft Folder) it will need to be approved by a full-time technician before downloading

  2. Check to make sure the software has a license.

    1. If the software does not have a license than it must be requested and purchased through ITSPurchasing by the user’s department.

    2. After completing steps I and II contact user to schedule an install.

  3. Install Software

    1. Obtain necessary information for the setup of the software before beginning the install. This information varies between software and if you are uncertain, ask a full-time technician

    2. Be sure to disable automatic updates when applicable

    3. User information may be required. If none is provided to you, use the information below.

      1. First Name: Information Technology

      2. Last Name: Services

      3. Company: CBU

    4. After completing the installation, log in under the User’s profile to make sure the software works properly (Do not use HDESK as some programs can only be utilized on one user’s profile.)

    5. Depending on the nature of the software, the ticket will Abe moved to customer follow-up (if software is cannot be tested with user’s profile) or Closed (if it is verified working on User’s profile.)Â
