How to Fix Desktop Authority

Desktop Authority is software that maps all network drives that a user has assigned to them. If a user notices that their network drives disappear every time they restart their machine, then Desktop Authority may be corrupted and this is how you fix it.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to the C:/ in the file explorer, and find the Desktop Authority folder as shown below:

Hold shift and press delete at the same time to permanently delete the folder (this skips going to the trash bin).

 

Navigate to the machines Program files (x86) folder and find the Quest folder. Delete it the same way that you did Desktop Authority.

2. After the files are deleted, we need to re-add them. To do this, hit the windows key and type in this address: \\rivdc2-2016\NETLOGON\NETLOGON.bat. If a warning pops up cautioning you, click the Run button to continue. After doing this a batch file window will open up and reinstall DA,It should look like this:

3. Restart the machine and the drives should be remapped as long as they have the permission.
