Admin By Request on Macs (How To)

Admin by Request (ABR) is an application that runs on the local computer that you can use to request “Admin Rights” with. This allows you to have local admin rights to install or change settings on your local computer, if approved.

 

How to use Admin By Request (ABR) on macOS

  1. Go to the menu bar on your macOS device and look for the icon that looks like a checkmark inside of a circle.

  2. Click on that icon and request administrative access.

  3. Once you click on Request administrative access, a new window will appear. Please fill out the window with the following

·         Your email address

·         Your desk phone number

·         Reason for installing software (please state the software you are trying to install and reason why).

 

Once you are done filling out the request, click ok and the request will be sent to the ITS User Services Team. You will also receive an email stating that your request is being reviewed by the team and we will approve or deny it. If Denied, a reason will be given and contact maybe made in order to get more information for provide more information on why it was denied.

 

4. If your request has been approved you will receive an email stating that your administrative access request has been approved and you will need to repeat step 2.

·         Once you repeat step 2, you will receive a new stating our Code of Conduct.

·         You will now have 15 mins of admin access to install or uninstall applications as needed.

·         Please note that your admin session is audited by ITS personal and we will request applications to be uninstalled if they violate the Codes of Conduct.
