Blackboard Learn - On-Demand SafeAssign Reporting
This article instructs California Baptist University staff members on how to process SafeAssign reports on demand.
Required to proceed:
Named user Staff account in Blackboard Learn
Instructor access to course CBUAdmissions-SafeAssign
Student submission for upload

Definitions:
Blackboard Learn: A web-based virtual learning environment and learning management system developed by Blackboard Inc. The software features course management, customizable open architecture, and scalable design that allows integration with student information systems and authentication protocols.
SafeAssign: A plagiarism prevention tool that references 4 major academic databases and provides an originality report on a given submission.
Additional information on how SafeAssign functions:
Originality Report: A report generated by SafeAssign detailing the percentage of text in the submitted paper that matches existing sources. The report shows the suspected sources for each section of the submitted paper that returns a match.

Instructions
Obtain student provided submission.
Acceptable formats: DOCX, DOC, PPT, PPTX, PDF, TXT, ODT, RTF, HTML, and HTM
SafeAssign also accepts ZIP files and processes files that match any of these file types.
Browse to Blackboard Learn at: https://calbaptist.blackboard.com/
Select Login using LancerID.
Use your normal CBU username and password.
Same username and password as your email/ InsideCBU.
Select Courses from the left-hand navigation menu.
Select course CBUAdmissions-SafeAssign.
Browse to Course Management > Course Tools in the left-hand navigation menu. Within Course Tools, select SafeAssign.
On the following page, select Direct Submit.
On the right-hand side, select Submit Paper.
Leave the first two check boxes blank, then either upload the file using the Choose File button, or manually enter the text in question using the Copy/ Paste Document option.
Select Submit when you are ready to submit to SafeAssign.
The originality report may take some time to process, depending on the size of the document and current load of the SafeAssign service. At first, no results will be shown. You can refresh the page easily by toggling back and fort between Private and Shared in the top right-hand corner above the Submit Paper button.
Paper has been submitted, but no results are shown.
Select the Shared button, then re-select Private to refresh the submission results page. You may need to wait a few minutes if your report is not shown right away.
The originally report is complete when you see a percentage in the Matching field, and a green check mark symbol in the SA Report field.
Select the green check mark in the SA Report field to view the originality report.
Example final output:
You may use the Download or Print icons in the top right-hand corner to save the report locally.
The report is saved and always accessible later in this same system area unless you explicitly choose to delete it.
