When is MFA being enforced for Blackboard Learn?

  • Starting Friday, August 12th, 2022.


Who is required to use MFA for Blackboard Learn?

The following affected groups will be required to use MFA:

  • Faculty and Adjunct Faculty

  • Staff

  • Students


Will I have to use MFA every time I log in?

You will need to use MFA once per single sign-on (SSO) session. If your SSO session expires or is closed, you will need to use MFA to login again.
Examples:

MFA needed.

  1. Opening Blackboard Learn for the first time in a Web Browser.

  2. You have logged out of Blackboard Learn, have no other web apps active using SSO in that browser session, then return to Blackboard Learn

No MFA needed.

  1. You already have signed into a web app* using SSO, then open Blackboard Learn in a new tab.

    1. *Examples: Outlook.com or Box.com


Session activity timeout is 3 hours of inactivity.


Yes, for your first time login.


30 days, after which you will be prompted for login and MFA.


Alternate login type accounts will not use MFA.
