The information in this article aims to answer questions you may have relating to Zoom recordings at California Baptist University. Zoom as an educational tool is provided and supported by Information Technology Services.

If you have additional unanswered questions, please contact the Help Desk using any of the following methods:

What is the Zoom cloud recording retention period?

  • The new retention period for Zoom cloud recordings will be 180 days. Overall storage usage will continue to be monitored, and further adjustments may be required if storage grows more quickly than expected.

Does this affect all Zoom cloud recordings?

  • Yes, this affects all existing and future Zoom cloud recordings that are 180 days old. This change does not affect any recordings that are locally stored on your computer.

How do I download my Zoom cloud recordings?

  1. Log in to Zoom using your CBU login.

  2. Click on “Recordings” on the left-hand navigation sidebar.

  3. Under “Cloud Recordings”, select the recording you wish to download.

  4. On the recording’s page, click the Download button.

How can I recover a deleted recording?

If you need to download a recording that was deleted, you may recover it for up to 30 days after it was sent to the Zoom cloud recording trash. Please note that recordings that were automatically deleted and then recovered will be sent back to the trash within 24 hours. Once returned to the trash, the 30-day recovery window restarts.

  1. Log in to Zoom Meetings using your CBU Login.

  2. Click the “Recordings” link, located on the sidebar to the left of the page.

  3. Locate and click the “Trash” button at the upper right of the page. If you do not see the “Trash” option, you do not have any recordings available to recover.

  4. Locate the recording you wish to recover in the list, then click the “Recover” button. You can also use the check boxes to select and recover several recordings at once.

Will I be notified when a recording is going to be deleted?

  • Users will not be notified when recordings are deleted and moved to the recording trash. However, you’ll be notified 7 days before the recording is permanently deleted from the trash folder.

Will deleting a recording break any links we’ve posted on Blackboard or any other websites?

  • Yes, viewers following a link to a deleted recording will see an error stating that the recording does not exist. To resolve this, please recover the deleted recording and host it on one of the several storage platforms we have available such as Kaltura, Box, or Onedrive. After archiving it you can relink the Zoom recordings within your Blackboard course. Please do not use Blackboard as a storage option for Zoom recordings.
